The Goshiki-numa Lakes, located in Bandai-Asahi National Park in Fukushima Prefecture, is a natural miracle formed when Mount Bandai caused a water vapor eruption in 1888.
It consists of a large number of lakes and marshes with different colors, such as Bishamon Marsh, Akanuma and Midoro Marsh, which are less than a 10-minute walk from the hotel, and is designated as a "special protected area" that requires particularly strict protection in national parks. As a result, general access is severely restricted, and underwater photography is impossible without a special permission from the Ministry of the Environment.
Seio Nakamura is one of the few photographers who can take underwater photography with special permission from the Ministry of the Environment in order to pass on this precious natural landscape to future generations. From 1988 to the present, we have continued to follow the seasonal appearance of Goshiki-numa. We capture the underwater world that we can not usually see, such as the light emitted from the bottom of the lake water, the greenery of the trees reflected in the water, and the state of the bottom of the lake that changes every season, with the beauty of a masterpiece.
