[Local Discovery] Okiagari Koboshi painting experience
A round bottom doll using gravity, a local toy in the Aizu region of Fukushima Prefecture
Okiagari Koboshi is a kind of lucky charm and local toy that has been handed down since ancient times in the Aizu region of Fukushima Prefecture.
It is also called Okihime. For Aizu people, it is the next familiar local toy after "Akabeko", and has a cuteness imitating a child.
In the Aizu region, it is customary to purchase the number of family members + one at the fair of the first market held on January 10 every year called "Tookaichi", and decorate it on the shrine etc. for one year.
It contains the spirit of "seven-eight" because it rises no matter how many times you defeat it.
As a good luck, there are "no illness" and "safety at home", and it is said that purchasing one more than the number of family members is a custom created from the desire to "increase the number of families".
